Representatives from the Indigenous Learning Company (ILC) met with Doug Horner, Alberta’s Minister of Advanced Education and Technology in Edmonton last month. The purpose of the meeting was to come up with ways that ILC can work with the province to tackle the educational challenges and opportunities facing Aboriginal Albertans.
“My colleagues, led by Paul First Nation Chief Daniel Paul, and I enjoyed chatting with Minister Horner,” said Randy Morse, ILC CEO. “I was impressed with his openness and his clear grasp of the issues we were there to discuss.”
Walter Schwabe, ILC-Alberta President, said he’s in the process of following up with the Minister and hopes to keep moving forward with the province.
“On behalf of ILC-Alberta and Paul First Nation, we were able to facilitate a meeting between Chief Daniel Paul, ILC brass and Minister Doug Horner. The meeting was terrific. Its purpose of ensuring that the minister was fully briefed on what ILC-Alberta was intending to do in the areas of Advanced Education and Technology was accomplished,” Schwabe said. “I’m currently following-up on subsequent meetings that are a result of our initial discussion, and I anticipate further positive traction and results for ILC-Alberta moving forward.”
