New Partnership Launched in British Columbia

After successful meetings with educational leaders of the Lower Kootenay Band, near Creston, and positive meetings with Nelson-based School District #8, ILC has now agreed to an exciting project intended to transform superb curriculum-based course outlines developed by Nelson’s International School of the Kootenays (“ISK”), into state-of-the-art online resources for British Columbia students and teachers.

ISK is a unique, not-for-profit educational institution. Based on a distributed learning model, ISK offers liberal arts education that contributes to world peace by deepening the understanding, interest and acceptance of cultural, generational, philosophical, and religious differences. ISK curriculum is designed to equip students of all ages with the practical skills, initiative, and the self-confidence needed to put the ideals of openness and compassion into an engaged practice of reflection and investigation.

In other words, a perfect fit as a British Columbia-based educational partner for ILC.

Discussions are underway right now to determine the area of curriculum focus for our first joint initiative, and how we might include partners such as the Lower Kootenays and District #8 (a pioneer in distributed learning in British Columbia). We’ve agreed it will be a high school level online program – we expect to be able to announce specifics sometime in February ’08, with our first joint offering ready for prime time by the end of this year.
